IRSDC to Impose Hefty Revised Parking Charges at Chandigarh Railway Station from February 1

The Indian Railway Stations Development Corporation Limited (IRSDC) is going to impose revised parking charges at Chandigarh railway station from February 1. An official of the IRSDC said the rates would be on hourly basis for all vehicles parked at the Chandigarh and Panchkula side of the station.

The official said on Chandigarh side there was parking space for 300 cars and 450 two-wheelers, while 100 cars and 250 two-wheelers could be parked on the Panchkula side of railway station.

It was found during the survey that people used to park their vehicles for more than 24 hours which was a security threat also. An official said after imposing the new hourly rates, visitors would not prefer to park their vehicles at the station for longer hours and there would be better management.

A commuter will have to pay Rs 30 for two hours for car parking and for additional hours, Rs 15 will be added. At present, Rs 20 is charged for parking a car the whole day. For monthly pass, a person will have to pay Rs 4,000 now. At present, Rs 600 is charged for the monthly pass.

For two-wheelers, Rs 15 will be charged for the first two hours and for additional hours, Rs 10 will be charged. At present, Rs 10 is charged for the whole day. The monthly pass at present is for Rs 200, but after the revised rates, the monthly pass will be for Rs 1,500.

For auto-rickshaw, Rs 20 will be charged for the for first two hours and for an additional hour, Rs 10 will be charged. At present, Rs 15 is charged for the whole day. After the revised rates, Rs 2,000 will be charged for monthly pass, which is Rs 450 at present.
