The development of the Hadapsar railway station into a satellite terminus would be completed by June. The Central Railway general manager, Sanjeev Mittal, on 6th February (Thursday) said the developed station would start functioning from June, decongesting the Pune station and easing the pressure of trains on it.
Once the Hadapsar railway station becomes a satellite terminus, many express trains would start from there. Issues related to land acquisition were delaying the project for the past five years. “The matter has been sorted out,” Mittal said. Speaking on the sidelines of his annual Pune division visit-cum-inspection, Mittal also said, “The first phase of the Pune station yard remodelling would be completed by December.”
An official said, “The Pune yard remodelling project has been divided into four phases. In the first phase extension of all the six platforms to accommodate 26-coach trains and LHB coaches would be completed. The tracks would also be developed to ensure that trains enter the Pune station at a speed of 30km per hour instead of 10km per hour, prevalent now.” Mittal said plans for the re-development of the Shivajinagar railway station was also progressing
