The Union Budget 2022 tabled in parliament by the finance minister focused on the infrastructural reforms laying special impetus on infrastructure spending and boost logistics. The finance minister highlighted the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan for Multimodal Connectivity provisioning higher spending for road, railways, ports and mass transports.

The Gati Shakti National Master Plan for Multimodal Connectivity was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in October last year, which aims to bring 16 Ministries including Railways and Roadways together for integrated planning and coordinated implementation of infrastructure connectivity projects.

Giving a clear indication on the intent of boosting the logistics sector the FM announced 100 Gati Shakti Multi Modal Cargo Terminals (GCT) to be developed in next 3 years. These Gati Shakti Cargo Terminals will be critical for increasing India’s competitiveness in logistics sector and also create new opportunities for private sector participation.
