Inspired with the guidance of Shri Arun Arora, General Manager/Eastern Railway, Eastern Railway is trying to maximize the revenue. As a result of such continuous endeavour, this railway has achieved highest ever passenger and goods revenue in January, 2023 compared to any January in the past.
The passenger revenue in Eastern Railway for the month of January, 2023 has been recorded as ₹ 279.97 crore surpassing the previous highest of ₹ 245.14 crore in January, 2020. PRS (Passenger Reservation System) revenue of ER for the month of January, 2023 stood at ₹ 170.31 crore which is also the highest ever. The previous highest PRS earnings was ₹ 132.22 crore in January, 2020. The goods revenue of Eastern Railway recorded as ₹ 613.04 crore for January, 2023 surpassing the previous highest of ₹ 536.83 crore in January, 2022.
In the current financial year, the cumulative goods revenue over Eastern Railway from April, 2022 to January, 2023 recorded as ₹ 5195.82 crore which is 6.93% higher than the cumulative earning of ₹ 4858.94 crore in the previous financial year. The cumulative growth of passenger earnings as compared to last year has been +64.48% (₹ 2709.42 crore as compared to ₹ 1647.23 crore last year).
The parcel and luggage revenue for the month of January, 2023 was ₹ 9.43 crore which is 16.73% higher than that of corresponding month of the previous year.
