Launch of 2 new Vande Bharat Trains in Mumbai takes total to 10

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated two new Vande Bharat Express trains – Mumbai-Shirdi and Mumbai-Solapur – taking the total number of semi-high-speed-trains in the country to 10. India now has 10 operational Vande Bharat Express trains.

These advanced semi-speed trains boast of myriad of superior amenities, offering passengers an experience like that in an aircraft. Vande Bharat Express Trains also have state-of-the-art safety features including Kavach technology, to ensure proper safety of the passengers.

For the comfort of passengers, the trains have reclining seats in all classes while the Executive Coaches have the added feature of 180-degree rotating seats. In addition, the express features automatic doors, a GPS-based audio-visual passenger information system, onboard hotspot Wi-Fi for entertainment purposes, comfortable seating, among other attractive features.

Vande Bharat Express Trains in India

1- New Delhi Varanasi Vande Bharat Express

PM Narendra Modi has on February 15, 2019 flagged off the country’s first and Indian Railways’ fastest engine-less train – the Vande Bharat Express. It covers 770 km in just 8 hours, stopping at only two stations – Kanpur and Prayagraj. An AC Chair Car ticket in the train will cost Rs 1,670 while it will cost Rs 3,075 in the Executive Chair Car.

2- New Delhi Katra Vande Bharat Express

Launched on October 3, 2019 by Home Minister Amit Shah, the Delhi-Katra Vande Bharat Express covers a distance of over 650 km in 8 hours, stopping at 3 stations – Ambala Cant, Ludhiana and Jammu Tawi.

3- Gandhinagar-Mumbai Central Vande Bharat Express

India’s third Vande Bharat Express was flagged off by PM Modi on September 30 last year. It covers a distance of 520 km in 6 hours 15 mins and stops at 4 stations – Ahmedabad, Vadodra and Surat. The ticket price for AC Chair Car is Rs 1,320 and Rs 2,415 for Executive Chair Car.

4- New Delhi- Amb Andaura Vande Bharat Express

PM Narendra Modi flagged off the inaugural run of Vande Bharat Express from Una railway station on October 13, 2022. Covering 415 km in 5 hours 15 mins, the train halts at 4 stations – Ambala Cant, Chandigarh, Anandpur Sahib and Una. The ticket price for AC Chair Car is Rs 1,155 and Rs 2,065 for Executive Chair Car.

5- Chennai-Mysuru Vande Bharat Express

South India’s first and India’s fifth Vande Bharat Express was launched last year on November 11. It has 6 hours 30-minute run. AC Chair Car ticket in the train costs Rs 1,270 and Executive Chair Car costs Rs 2,290.

6- Bilaspur-Nagpur Vande Bharat Express

The country’s sixth Vande Bharat train was flagged off in December 2022. The train covers a distance of a little over 400 km in 5 hours 30 minutes and stops at Raipur, Durg, Raj Nandgaon and Gondia. A seat in the AC Chair Car will has been priced at Rs 1,240, according to the IRCTC website.

7- Howrah to New Jalpaiguri Vande Bharat Express

India’s 7th semi-high-speed train was flagged off by PM Modi on December 30. It is the first Vande Bharat series train to operate in the eastern state of West Bengal, and the second premium train service after Shatabdi Express to run on the 560-Kilometre-Howrah NJP route. The train has halts at Bolpur (Shantiniketan), Malda town and Barsoi.

8- Secunderabad to Visakhapatnam Vande Bharat Express

The 8th semi-high-speed train runs between Telangana’s Secunderabad and Andhra Pradesh’s Visakhapatnam. A seat in the AC Chair Car costs Rs 1,540 while that in Executive Class costs Rs 2,860.

9- Mumbai to Solapur Vande Bharat Express

The recently inaugurated Mumbai to Solapur Vande Bharat Express covers 400 km in 6.5 hours. It connects some well-known pilgrimage sites like Siddheshwar in Solapur, Akkalkot, Tuljapur, Pandharpur near Solapur and Alandi near Pune. A ticket in AC chair car of the train costs Rs 1,210 while that in Executive Class is priced at Rs 2,180.

10 – Mumbai to Shirdi Vande Bharat Express

It runs between Mumbai CST station and Sainagar Shirdi, covering the distance in five hours and 20 minutes. In AC Chair Car, a seat would cost Rs 975 while that in the Executive Class is priced at Rs 1,840.
